Shops in this directory are labeled by certification status. Assurity Certified means the shop has been independently verified across the 4Ms — the people, methods, materials, and machines behind a safe repair — and Pre-Qualified means it has been vetted but not yet verified. What certification does and doesn’t guarantee is worth two minutes before you compare anyone.
One distinction does a lot of work: certified is not the same as insurance-approved. An insurance-approved shop has a claims agreement with an insurer; a certified shop has demonstrated it can repair your car properly. A shop can be both — and you’re never required to use the insurer’s list.

What is a certified auto body shop?
One whose ability to repair your car has been checked, not claimed. An Assurity Certified shop has been independently verified across the 4Ms: people (trained technicians), methods (factory repair procedures), materials (genuine OEM parts), and machines (proper tools and calibrated equipment). Certification verifies capability; it is not a warranty on any individual repair.
Is an insurance-approved body shop the same as a certified shop?
No. Insurance-approved means the shop has a business agreement with an insurer to handle its claims — a direct repair program. Certification describes what the shop can do to your car. A shop can be both, either, or neither, and you have the right to choose your own shop regardless of the insurer's list.
